Wednesday Feb 12, 2020
Wednesday Feb 12, 2020
This episode is about my great grandmother Sallie Esther Hovis Perkins and the things she saw and the last one hundred years. She could make one hundred years seem not so long ago. Born in 1899, she lived from the Wright Brothers first flight to the first moon landing. A lot happened during her lifetime and she took it all in stride.

Monday Feb 03, 2020
Monday Feb 03, 2020
In the late 1970s, NC Highway 16 was named "The deadliest highway in North Carolina." Once I was old enough to drive, I drove on this highway every day. This episode gives a little personal history of this highway and how the new four-lane bypass may turn this stretch of road back into the deadliest highway in the state.

Stuck In Traffic Jan 28, 2020
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
There was a tanker crash which diverted traffic onto the road in front of my house. It took me nearly two hours to travel four miles, so I did a podcast episode! This episode is MUCH longer than my normal episodes. I did very little editing. You can hear the traffic sounds, my radio, and me talking for a little over forty minutes. Let me know how you like it.

Friday Jan 24, 2020
"That's just how I was raised," is a common response whenever you compliment someone on their kindness or dependability. Kids today are growing up in a different world than the one we grew up in, but some things never change. We can still teach kids right from wrong, and how to treat others the way we would like to be treated.

Monday Jan 20, 2020
When you have self doubt, or you feel like you're not getting the respect you deserve, it helps to remember who YOU are. If you're unhappy because others don't recognize your talent or your worth, remember who YOU are. Maybe it's time for a change.

Fixin To
Friday Jan 10, 2020
Friday Jan 10, 2020
One of my favorite Southernisms, "fixin to". For years I didn't know it was a Southern thing. I thought everybody said it. "Fixin" as a noun is purely marketing. This is a more lighthearted episode than the last one, and as a bonus, you can actually hear the road noise in the background. BTW, I don't know whose tag this is in the picture. I just thought it was cool.

Monday Dec 30, 2019
Hate hurts you. It can affect your whole life and you have to let it go! Hate is not the opposite of love. Love is the natural state of human beings. You have to decide to hate. It takes a conscious effort to hate, and it will poison your life!

Get To Know A Person Before You Judge Them
Monday Dec 16, 2019
Monday Dec 16, 2019
It's harder to judge someone after you get to know them. This is the story of a kid I had written off as a disrespectful brat, but then I got to know him better.
