Big Boys Don't Cry

Is it okay for men to cry?  Little boys on the playground are told "big boys don't cry" when they scrape their knee.  Whether it's testosterone or learned behavior, men tend to cry much less often than women.  Maybe men should "let it out" more often.  

Friends

Why I Can't Remember Stuff

Age related memory loss.  I have a theory, based on no research, as to why we have trouble remembering stuff as we get older.  I believe it's a "no available memory space" problem.

DNA Tests

Have you ever had a DNA test? Did you believe the results?  I found out that I had Cherokee ancestry, but the DNA test showed zero percent Native American.  My wife apparently is descended from Vikings and pirates.  THAT I can believe!      

BC: Before Cell Phones

Remember when smart phones replaced flip phones?  Remember when cell phones first came out?  Do remember when there were no cell phones?  Cell phones are a fairly recent invention and now you can't live without them.  

Do You Want To Be Right or Do You Want To Be Happy?

The best piece of relationship advice my dad ever gave me.  When you're in the midst of an argument, ask yourself, "Do I want to be right, or do I want to be happy"?  It takes two people to argue.  If one person stops, the argument stops.

What Does Home Mean To You?

We're all under a "stay at home" order.  I began to think philosophically about "home" and what it means to me.  What do you think of when you say the word "home"?  Is it your state, your town, or maybe it's the place where you grew up?  In this episode I talk about what home means to me.   

Compassion

Compassion says, I not only feel your pain, but I will help you to get through it.  How is compassion different from empathy?  Nursing has to be the most perfect example of people who show compassion.
